He tried to drop Martin and me on the final climb before the sprint but we sat on his wheel - once over the top I could sit on his wheel and planned to jump him. Martin went first and I knew I didn't have the legs to beat him, so let Arunas chase, then I pushed past him when he started to slow. Once he gets a few more Zwift races under his belt, and the tactics, he'll be hard to beat at our level. He was very strong today for sure.

He rides in the Club A ride. He'll be kickin' ass once he learns the ropes. He's definitely not a C by power.
But he was probably also riding the Zwift Carbon with shite wheels.

It does make you realise that there really IS some skill to this. It's not JUST about power.

Oh interesting will keep an eye on my numbers. Thankfully no obvious Ill effects to date although early days. Interesting to read It.helps with cognition in sleep deprived people, as a parent of young nocturnal children

There's research coming out that it helps with menopause too for women - cognition and sleep being key areas it can improve. My gf takes 5grm per day too and she thinks it helps (she also trains with me in the gym and it's probably helping there too).

There is absolutely a technique, as wheelsuckers like me can testify to. i rarely if ever have a higher w/kg than those around me in a race, letting others do the work, kicking where I need to for lumps, sitting in and resting in between. I assume very much like real racing, but I don't have to worry about my shyte bike handling skills when I'm on Zwift

I enjoyed watching myself come around Carl.
That's something that NEVER would have happened back in the day

You did well there. I should have gone earlier. Not sure I could have though. It's always easy to say that afterwards.

I don't have a sprint at the end of a hard ride at the moment. My fitness is just not what it was, with 6 months off then the blinkin chest infection last month. BUT, I'm getting better and fitter so only a matter of time until I'm back towards the top of C again.
Since riding again I'm 2kg lighter, still looking to lose another 5-7 kg in the next 6 months. That should make a difference too. I'm retiring (again) in March, so will have the chance to ride more often, I'm hoping that helps me shed the pounds and get me competitive again,
Then ... revenge will be served up :boxing::rofl::training::girldance: (maybe haha)

Hey let's actually get out in the real world for a ride this year. See if we can hit up Martin as well for an old gits club ride

I reckon it won't be long before you're back to the top of C.

I'm based near Bath, Martin is Warwick, somewhere in the Cotswolds maybe? I'm up for a meet once the weather is warmer :sun:

After advise regards Tuesday Wtrl race which is a points race . It's been 3 years since I raced zwift and back then I just rode for finish points ,but I now feel a bit more competitive but I struggle with sprint and recover and on this route there will be little recovery between sprints so is it best to just try and hang on towards the front and just sprinting to stay with the group and just collect what I can

The fact that everyone gets points now rather than just the top 10, means it is probably best to try and hang on to the front group and pick up points that way.

But if you do find yourself in a small pack as you approach either a sprint or KOM banner, then putting in a small dig to get to the front of that group might be worth it to pick up a few more points.

Steve is on the money in terms of trying to hold whatever group you can. I would say that even if you aren't going for sprints you do need to up the power or you will get dropped by the spike in pack speed. That said I think the course has some pretty nasty climbs so that will likely be where the selections take place

I haven't watched a recon yet but if you don't know the course it generally is worth the time. This guy is my go to usually

Just to expand slightly Nathan tends to give race plans for different rider types and ability - so he will give advise for the punchy rider who is likely to come top 10 but also for mid pack riders and diesels etc. generally good info in there
