Also rode the ZRL tonight. Had a full complement of teammates and the climbers managed to bag some points on the climbs early doors whilst I just clung on for dear life near the front group  Managed to recover along the flatter sections by hiding in the pack and by the end of the second lap I’d attained a ghost/invisible power up that I cheekily used as we started the third lap.As I reappeared I’d got a 7 second gap so settled in to TT mode and, with the chasers not working together I built up a sizeable lead before each climb that came down worryingly but managed to stretch it back out again On the descents and flatter sections. By the time I got to the last climb before the finish I’d managed to have a 30 second gap so rode within myself to have my first ZRL win by 15 seconds. ^_^

Awesome well done.

Surprised with how well I did given my dislike of the course - 6th across the line, upgraded to 5th as one of the leaders got DQ'd for going over ZMAP limits.

Saved my energy on the first lap and picked off riders later on - positions got better at every banner: 25th, 19th, 13th, 10th, 8th, 7th. Struggled with Libby as per usual, but by using the London escalator trick, always managed to overtake a handful of riders on 23rd Street.

Really love that Richmond course. Paul unfortunately wasn't well and missed out on a race that he would have excelled in but it was great for me and Bram to have a DS.

Not sure why but everything clicked really, took 5 of the sprints 3 second places and the win, have never been able to really stick with leaders over governors but I think a tough attritional race meant everyone else was exhausted too. Bram got podium in all but one of the sprints as well (and a hairs breath behind me a couple of times). Our team isn't really in contention so didn't really have to worry about any tactical issues and other teams did the chasing/pulling so that maybe played into our hands a bit. The quite long lull in between the two points climbs was just enough to recover. It is B3 development as well in fairness.

Hoping Paul's video uploads okay even if it's only me who watches it 🤣 Glad to hear it was a successful race across the board today

I watched A ZRL events of both Njäl and Ed Lavarack simultaneously.

It was furious attacking on the climbs.

By midway a group of 6 had broken free from the main bunch. It contained some of the best Zwifters from across the world. Regularly they were putting out 10Wkg(600-700W)for Libby and 13Wkg(800-1000W) 23rd St.

Times of less than 1 minute for Libby and sub 20s for 23rd st

You could see Ed was having a great race, but was outgunned by most of the others.

Rubin Dhont won the event Nial losing out in a sprint. Ed's doggedness got him 5th

Super impressive how you ground the field down, you got stronger as they got weaker.

Like Steve I didn't go too deep on the 1st lap , I think I was 27th over the lap banner and my little group of 6 was 15secs of the front of the race ,on the downhill I dropped my aero put a bit of power on and closed the gap to 12 secs as the front rested .I was hoping someone would come over the top of me and help in closing the gap but no one wanted to work , halfway up Libby we got it down to 10secs before it kicked off in the front group and the front was gone . But our front group stayed mainly intact so I think we only picked up 2 stragglers so no great improvement in places . So I question wether I should have gone deeper to hang on the 1st time up Libby ? ,but I do struggle with sprint and recover and passing a teammate who got 4th up Libby grovelling up and slowly dieing on Govener st I still think I made the right choice for me . 24th place is the best I've done in this league normally I'm 10 places back and the people I have raced in previous round finished in those positions

That really is a strange course to get zMAPped on

Seen it happen in Zmonthly race on Richmond a few years ago in Category Enfoorcement pen D, by pedalling hard between ramps, instead of supertucking or at least taking it easy.

That’s exactly what I thought; I pushed as hard as I could at times yet didn’t set a single 90 day best in any time frame according to my Zwift profile.

Also the fact that they got Code 6’d which only happens when you go considerably over limits. When my ZMAP pushed me into Cat C 4 months ago (Pain Cavern climb in Makuri) even that didn’t get me a DQ, it was just a “you can’t race for this D team for the next 90 days”.

It has got nothing to do with Zwift, but @honeybadger's post on the previous page reminded me of a video that made me laugh a couple of days ago...

My claim to fame is I'm a qualified South African safari guide ... and we'd tell guests that whilst the lions and leopards are cool to watch, the coolest mother f'ker of all is the honey badger. No one messes with them. They're like that angry short guy down the pub who has drunk 10 wife-beaters and now wants to fight everyone else in the pub

Yeah, but leopards are sneaky bastards. I saw one stealth away with a whole dead impala from right under the noses of multiple other predators (who were the ones who made the kill) while they were fighting amongst themselves over who got the spoils. By the time they’d realised what had happened, the leopard had dragged the carcass up a tree and they were left circling it at the bottom and all they could do was wait for scraps to fall.
