I'm the opposite, I find the warmups too slow - my FTP is 210 and a warmup at 110 watts feels far too lowI often crank up the warmup % to get a higher watts then put it back to 100% for the main segments.
A few years ago I was doing quite a few workouts and they really helped. But then so do decent races, so it's whatever works I guess. I love crit style races on the Bell Lap but they seem to be so few and far between these days unfortunately. They really helped my fitness![]()
I think they usually start about 50% and then ramp up. I just need to start slower. No idea why. It is what it is. That's one of the reasons I have a 30-minute pre-race "procedure". 30 minutes is handy though because it means you start once you've jumped into the pen to guarantee a good starting grid location.
