Just moving the chat back over here from the 'official' thread, to avoid the wrath of @Fubar ;)

If you bring us cake, you can have my bed
We will miss you on this trip!

 I wouldn't dream of turfing you out of your bed, @Pat "5mph" !
Had a quick look at ferry times  - there is an 18:55 arrival into Brodick, with sunset around 20:50 or thereabouts I would be able to make Lochranza before it gets dark ... To catch that ferry I would only have to leave work around 2pm:secret: ... hmmm ... I better stop right now before I get to carried away. I'll have to wait and see how the work deadlines are coming along during the week in question.

@Pat "5mph" and @Ellebells do you want me to keep the quad/triple room booking and either leave it open for @Telemark to attend (or see if any of your belles are interested), or would you like me to see if there are twin rooms available? Cheers, Mark

Please don't try to accommodate the slight chance that I might be able to join you on Arran ... I really can't commit to any extra time off work during mid-late August. A quad room between two ladies would be rather expensive ... If I can make make it at short notice, I'll find somewhere to stay (have got a wee tent, too , which I wouldn't like to drag around for 4 days, but no problem for a special occasion like this).

Apologies for causing extra hassle to @Fubar and the ladies!

Having finally  found 'suitable' opportunity to 'mention casually in passing' this event/trip/tour to Mrs Scoosh .... :smooch:

... she as good as told me "Well, you're not doing anything else nor going anywhere else in the summer, so why not go ? What bike would you be taking ?"

Looks like I'm running out of excuses options here  - I'll probably get thrown out of the house ... and sent packing on my Nazca to the wild west ... and the islands ... and the scenery ... and the hills ... and the company ... and the ferries and ..... and ...

I'm a definite 'Probable' now :wahhey: !

Brilliant! You don't mind sharing with the ladies, do you?

Seriously, I'll phone them on Monday and add another on the list, slumming it in a dorm with the rest of us ok with you?

Could Mrs @Scoosh not come along? Shoulder should be fine if you let her ride your recumbent

  • Mrs Scoosh will be busy** earning the money to get rid of me permit me to do the ride :secret:
  • Mrs Scoosh might not even be on her own bike by then - it's a (lack of) confidence thing
  • Mrs Scoosh certainly doesn't do 'bent riding  - she hasn't yet used her LaidbackCycles Gift voucher
  • Mrs Scoosh doesn't do "slumming it" :stop:
  • Mrs Scoosh only does more-*****-than-I-consider-decent on holiday

**it's the first week-end after the Embra schools go back
***** - those are stars, not deleted bad/naughty words ! :headshake:

Are you allowed to post on this thread now?

Joking!! It was no problem changing the room, I think they are getting sick of me at SYHA so just give me whatever I want! Be great if you can make it along at some point in the weekend, but if not - SEND CAKE!!! ;)

These are what I have:

Rack - Rack bag - Bar bag

According to the manual my Defy 2 will only carry 1.5kg of luggage. That can't be right as the rack and bag come to that weight, waste of time having the rack mounts there at all if it was that low a limit.

I reckon it's a typo and they mean 15kg. For safety, I'll be going for less than 10kg on the rack. The bar bag above is 6 litres capacity but has a weight limit of 3kg. Should be well under that too.

I'll test it out before the trip. I'll let you know if the seatstays snap

Hi Mike, does your bar bag have a waterproof cover? Having a wee look at them (in anticipation!) and one of the reviews says the newer ones don't have a waterproof cover. Thanks, Mark
