Saturday...ride 6 miles to a lovely pub just outside the city and imbibe quality ales at their beer festival, and then cycle home
Accomplished satisfactorily

It was pretty bad today, the wind was strong enough to buffet me about and kept trying to blow the bike from under me, it didn't help that I had dressed in summer gear either that wind was fair cutting through me.
Like the south of France daarn Saarf today.

I did my first 100 miler today, although I still work in KM as I grew up in South Africa. I felt good, and at around 70KM (about 44 miles) I came upon a large hill which nearly made me just turn around. But I'm glad I didn't now.

I got up at 5 AM, and after a bit of breakfast and some prep, I set off at 6 AM.

I didn't really factor in the large bright thing in the sky.

Anyway, it was hard, but I've been putting in some good miles lately, so didn't suffer nearly as much as the first time I did a 100 KM ride. I suspect I'm going to sleep well tonight !

Enjoy the weekend all.

I've managed 85 miles this week from commuting so feeling good. I've permission from 'the boss' to extend my run home tonight, so have planned a 40 mile journey from Belfast to Larne to Ballyclare. Tomorrow I'll cycle back in to Belfast to attend the Irish Cup Final (N Irelands FA Cup) which will be my first time cycling to a football match. On Sunday I'm planning to take the kids out in the Croozer and convince my wife to join us for a 20 mile trip in the afternoon. Monday morning is set to be a cracker weather wise so looking forward to that commute already.

So the 40 mile route home on Friday turned out to be just over 41 miles and have a total of 2000ft of climbing in a strong headwind. That was mentally tough! I cycled into the cup final but we lost 2-0 so let's move on.. On Sunday afternoon the trailer ride turned out to be 27 miles and my wife decided not to join us. I just sent her the pictures of us enjoying chips in the sunshine to let her know what she was missing! The commute this morning was glorious and looking forward to later. Especially as I'm off the next 2 days to do some solo touring down south in Ireland.
