For the same reason there is nothing in the news about lacrosse or trampolining or ice hockey. It's a minority sport that the vast majority of UK public couldn't care less about.

The question you should really be asking is "If it is a superior product, why has RL been so unsuccessful in expanding outside its traditional heartland of the M62 corridor?"

I can help you out here, read the quotes and links I have put on here. Granted, at times RL hasnt helped itself but the banning of players was a lot to do with it. Plus the Nazis, snobbery, class system, big money people looking down on professionalism, the South disrespecting the North, middle classes despising the working classes, private schools not wanting to be associated with a working mans sport (I've had schools say this!) etc. etc.

Your post associating RL with lacrosse and trampolining shows RU inequality is live and well. Another attempt to keep RL down. If you want to publish such rubbish back it up with facts - show me a comparison between Ice hockey in this country and RL - you wont be able to, which shows how this misleading bull talks down RL all the time

Tell me, why if RU is the superior product why outside of internationals (how many fans know anything about rugby, I imagine many dont even know which code it is) is it poorly supported and watched? RL is regularly in the top ten watched programs on Sky, so when its equally accessible to RU, it wins hands down, but then again RU ensured it wasnt as equally accessible, and we know why......because it isnt as good and they knew it

Yep, played it for 5 years, got to county level, also played League from age 5 and at Uni. Watched both in the past, but only RL now. Last RU game I saw was on big screen TV at Millenium Stadium in World Cup I think, Wales vs NZ? Was there for a charity bike ride. Felt so sorry for the Welsh supporters cos they would love running rugby. The people I know who go to HQ to watch are not the type of people I generally socialise with. They have no clue about either code yet of course pretend they do. They would be happy with their day out even if no contest was on offer.

Sounds like rugby's version of the prawn sandwich brigade, no wonder you're not a fan

Eh? If you look at my earlier post I made it clear that professional RL is a better product than professional RL so wind your neck back in for a second.

RL has had over 100 years to develop its footprint and has failed. Sure there are social factors at stake but 100 years is a long time to overcome these. RL management has been inept and amateurish for the vast majority of its existence and this is the main reason why it has failed to develop. It is a common facet of RL fans that it is always someone else's fault why they continue to have a minority sport when in reality the reason lies within RL management itself

No it doesnt lie purely with RL management, I did say they havent helped at times but definately not entirely their fault.

100 years of discrimination and still going

100 years of banning RL, thats a long time to be under persistent threat, so a miracle it survived all that time, thats due to how good it is, 100 years of being out-cased and still going

suggesting its on a par with lacrosse in England is discrimination, its certainly not on a par, people continually talking it down is one of the reasons it fails to grow

Rugby League is rugby light, played by overpaid prima donna thugs who, if they had their way, would be kitted out like American footballers. Flowers is the prime example.

Rugby Union is played by real men.

yeh yeh of course it is

Many RU supporters dont wish to discuss their shameful past - youd rather it be brushed under the carpet and claim its "self pity"

Come and watch Melrose ;) (actually, we could do an "exchange" - PM me)

Happy to be proved wrong

It may come across harsh, i dont dislike RU, more the people who led the discrimination of RL

Most people i meet who like RU dont know the history and say they like RL as a spectator sport, but they prefer their own RU which is fair enough. The working class fans seem to be more open minded than their RL cousins, but as i say that the past that leads to that

Would love to watch melrose, and ill take you to a Saints v Wigan game
