Never met him, but often go into Canterbury and I look up and see this street name and think of him

I was parked up next to this on the M6 this afternoon.

Vernonland would be an interesting place to say the least.

For those cycling to Scarborough in September,there is a Vernon Road,with a pub on it.Hole in the Wall.It's near the Brunswick shopping centre.Looking at Google maps,it's a long road.Which you will see when you ride along Valley Road and approach the last roundabout,near the Rotunda Museum,on your left.Photo opportunity there.

I only met him a few times on CC rides. He offered me a hit of absinthe in the middle of a rainy night near the Dartford Crossing. If you wanted to find an unsuppressible enthusiast for life, you needed to look no further. A lovely man.

I see he never visited it, but there is a mention in there for Higginsons butchers, well worth a visit if you're in the area.

I'm so glad i got to meet him a couple of times such a lovely and funny man. Always had a great story to tell. I think of him often when i'm out around the lanes especially about our trip with @User14044 to the Wellcome Museum when we last met.

I've just done a search of the site.

Sheet, that's terrible news. We often bickered and argued, but I had the utmost respect for him having the cojones to stand by his views. That was the measure of the man.

I'm so sorry to hear this, a genuine loss to our little family and to his own loved ones.

Drago a great tribute from you in recognising you never agreed with everything Vernon wrote but clearly respected his right to do so.
This forum really is so much more caring than some of the other cycling forums I use.

I saw some canal boats from Vernon Wharf when I was at the Anderton Boat Lift last week.

I posted a picture of my dinner when I was in Lanzarote in March, a lovely steak and ale pie from the local deli/baker/cafe. Vernon gave it a like and a comment, sadly only days later he was gone.

Vernon was working on updating one of my business website when he passed away, his work is on my bookmarks and will remain there as a reminder of a great bloke.
