I'd be surprised if you could do as light a build as Ribble offer for less than they charge but I suppose it might be possible. Perhaps shop around for some SRAM Rival from last year or something? You might find inspiration here, the Pedal Force RS2 is the same frame as the Ribble.

By the way, on an egotistical note...

...the Ribble now sports PR3s and today they had their first outing. In spite of being short of sleep I managed 49.47 miles solo at 19.4mph av. (went to North Berwick ) which for me is damned fast. Feeling quite chuffed and absolutely knackered now...

I thought the wall was rather nice. I wondered if it was carbon fibre or titanium, but a friend suggested it might be made of something called stone. Weird.

Is that the standard Campag Centar chainset on the bike. You seem to have a mix of carbon and alloy?? Did Ribble upgrade the carbon parts or downgrade the chainset??

I'm waiting for mine to be be delivered and will be very annoyed if they have changed the spec without advising me.

BTW; nice bike!!!

If you look at Campag's site the Centaur group includes both carbon and alloy mechs, levers and chainsets. None of the special edition Ribbles I've seen have had carbon chainsets (not surprising since it's £100+ extra IIRC) but some people like me have been given the carbon mechs and levers. Since they don't say which you're getting in the bike spec though they are unfortunately entitled to give you what they like as long as it's Centaur.

By the way I had my Ribble looked at today as I couldn't get rid of some chain rubbing at the back when in the big ring. Turns out my hanger was slightly bent which the mechanic thought might have happened in transit. She fixed it on the spot for £2 though so it's not a big deal - big up to the Bicycle Works in Edinburgh!

i emailed rinnle about them sending out bikes with carbon parts ( i got alloy with mine ) as i though i'd been conned...

but its because they have run out of stock of the allo stuff, so only have the option to put carbon on...
