Who's bought an expensive bike on finance????

I'm often drooling over expensive bikes I can't afford.

Has anyone bought an expensive bike (£1000, £2K, £3K ++) on finance to get there dream ride.

What motivated you to ask?

Maybe, maybe not. All depends on the value someone puts on the purchase.

I could buy lots and lots of £3k bikes tomorrow for cash but I still think £3k is an expensive bike.

My dream bike would always be a custom build though.

Why pay that much for bikes? There's so many lovely bikes in the rescue centre needing new homes... oh wait, that's cats, isn't it? There bloody well should be a rescue centre for bikes with the noises some of them make as they go past

Because to someone else £400 is expensive? Expense is only really relative to your own wallet/bank account/funding

Because after reading various recommendations on CC on various cycle gear, I have come to realise that I spend the least on cycling. So I just thought 3K for a bike is not so expensive.

I could afford a 3k bike but I would find it difficult to justify based on the amount I would ride it given I have 4 others

In some pockets a £3k bike is cheap though, and in others a £500 bike expensive. I don't think a persons ability to afford something changes how they perceive the cost or makes it senseless.

I bought my last bike on interest free credit. It was as cheap as anywhere else, so no reason not to. In fact I could argue that it's cheaper to buy it this way as the money I'm not spending immediately will earn some interest in my savings account (although the amount is insignificant given current interest rates).

I don't see a problem with taking credit at lower interest than your savings earn, as long as you have enough savings to cover the payments if your circumstances suddenly change and as long as you're not paying a premium for whatever you buy compared to buying it elsewhere with cash.

How was I supposed to know that...? Obviously an exception if you can't actually buy the bike you want!
