Was Tolstoy ever lighthearted, except as a boy? I am humbly ready to be educated.
As for Marmite and Branston Pickles, they may seem to be the acme to those who have not tasted Vegemite or Indian pickles or chutneys.

Yep, whenever he was out on his bike....

+1 Lime and Chilli pickle et al. Though not exactly British.....;)

:cheers:My last post on this .

The one and only the best game in the world played with style and real men.

I give you Rugby League.

Give me something better if you can than The Challenge Cup Final.
God bless Eddie Waring.;);):wahhey:

Well, Rugby Union of course. The six nations matches at Twickers,Murrayfield and Cardiff. Years of grudge played out over 80minutes and several pints and a curry afterwards. And no fighting, except on the pitch!

Have we lost our numbering, in our excitement have we forgotten to count?

115. The Great British Fiddle.

(to be sung to the tune of Legalise It, by Peter Tosh)

Shopboys do it,
Tradesmen do it,
Even the politicians too.

But I agree with cricket and the village green, remember the last scene in Bend It Like Beckham?

My favourite Spanish one translates as "I sh!t in the milk of the prostitute mother who gave birth to you" :-)
Looks like a combination of several Spanish expressions I've heard so many times joined together. In Spanish they sound so natural, but translated into English they look so weird!

PS. Forgot to include my great thing about Britain - the fact that most of us still live in houses rather than high rise flats.

Yes, "Me cago en la leche" is a common expletive, but is a shortening of "Me cago en la leche de la puta madre que te pareo"

"Puta madre" is also heard on its own as an expletive, and "de puta madre" can indeed mean something is really good

Anyway, back to good ol' Blighty... erm... the Union Jack... an excellent flag.

Yes, top flag.

But the national anthem's woeful though. But has any country got a good one? I think they have to be crap.

Three that come to mind immediately are the Marsellaise, the Star Spangled Banner (as played by Jimi Hendrix) and the South African National Anthem.

Any others?
