To go back to the tyres not fitting past the brakes - I run 25c P2Rs and 105 calipers with KoolStop Salmon pads - even with the QR undone the inflated tyre will not fit past the blocks, the tyre needs to be deflated.

Not a problem for me as I only remove the wheel either if it is punctured, or when I am fettling / transporting the bike in which case I have my track pump to hand.

Because I prefer 25's - I have used 23's for a long time before I went 25c and one of my other bikes has 23's on it. I just like the ride better. The slightly increased hassle is easily worth the increased comfort IMO.
