Bad day perchance?
Nope not at all. Have a very pleasant day despite the rugby result.

Here for rides.
Probably the worst refereeing performance of the quarters. Dubious yellow, missed yellow and the final knock on.
Hmmm. YC for an adjudged deliberate knock on when oppo might go on to score? Hardly a controversial decision at any level of the game.
Missed YC's have been a feature of the tournament and will be dealt with via citing, as they have been throughout
in real time I shouted "Feck, knock on!" at the TV. If his team mate then plays it it is a no-brainer of a penalty. Would like to see some decent HD slo-mo replays to see if I can see what all the fuss was about.

Running from the field though? That's just weird. Did he have a bus to catch?

I've always hated rolling mauls. To my mind, it's deliberate offside by six, seven or even eight players.
They are a skill. There have been loads of turnovers in this RWC because teams are strong enough to tie it up and not let it go to ground.

The opponents can choose not to join from the outset then there is no maul and no offside lines.

Maybe. It was a yellow that could have gone either way I suppose. I felt it was harsh. Then the Aussie, in with his shoulder and off his feet got a warning instead of a yellow. There's been a few yellows given for that. When that happened I almost felt he bottled the decision. And the legging it off the pitch at the end, well.

Have read he got off the field sharpish due to stuff being thrown at him....
Yellows are often given for those kinds of failed interceptions, agree it seems harsh but seen the same given in other situations so it's not like it was something out the blue. The potential 2nd yellow for the aussie was a big call. I don't think he felt it was serious enough to warrant a sending off though I wonder if he would've given yellow had the guy not already had one....

On the flip side the commentary was suggesting some of the penalties against Australia in the scrum were harsh. I don't understand enough to comment either way, but a lot of people seem to be suggesting the ref was very anti-Scotland, which wasn't the impression I got.

2 days of amazing viewing. This is why I love sport so much. Some people won't get it, but I do!

Might these be Scottish-type people, by any chance?
Easy enough to find a long list of former players from a number of nations saying pretty much the same thing. Just go to twitterland.

edit - here's Matt Dawson's tweet: Craig Joubert you are a disgrace and should never referee again!! How dare you sprint off the pitch after that decision!!!

And Austin Healy: Never a penalty never totally robbed totally robbed #beproud Scotland

Aussie dollars?

I'd heard bottles, but that wouldn't make a lot of sense as there shouldn't be any bottles to throw...
If he did just scarper, Matt Dawson's right, if he got out the way because he was getting abuse etc, Dawson's just jumping to conclusions. Like all the post match analysis saying he should've gone to TMO over the offside decision that awarded the penalty, but apparently because there was no foul play and no try, he didn't have that option.... Daft situation if so, but not the refs fault.

Anyway, my point was that whether he got some decisions wrong or not, I did not get the impression he was giving Australia preferential treatment, and some of the examples people have thrown up saying he was aren't valid.

They sell plastic bottles of Heineken at Twickenham. Empty not really an issue, full and it'll probably hurt. However we are talking Scots here so it's unlikely they were full.
