Are they not national teams competing? I thought the Netherlands riders were all wearing Orange?
I know gravel is a lot more individual than road, but still... It looked really, really bad - especially as a Netherlands 1-2-3 was otherwise a possibility - the chase group brought Silvia Persico with them who took bronze.

All in all it looked stereotypically Oranje

I tittered in an unseemly fashion at some wag's comment this morning:
"This is what happens when you put up a podium at a fun race".

Tour of Holland starting right now with a prologue TT.
Featuring rain, wet leaves, darkness and.... A BMX start gate!
Good luck to all, hope they stay upright!

Ouch

Jelle Boum of Diftar Continental Cyclingteam just overcooked a corner, slowed along th barrier, and then did a somersault. Up and riding and OK, but looked dramatic

Is MvdP riding CX this year?

Not heard for definite yet, said he was tired after not getting the MTB rainbows he craves. But the world's is in Hulst NL this year, so I reckon he'd want that 8th jersey in front of a home crowd

Van Aert is racing just 6 races this year

Tour of Holland stage cancelled due to a lack of volunteer marshals and no police support: https://road.cc/content/news/tour-holland-stage-cancelled-motorist-enters-course-316431

As someone who now volunteers as a race marshal we can't stop a driver entering the race course, driving round our STOP sign. It happened a couple of times in the last race I marshalled, the result being a very near-miss with a rider. We managed to get a driver to stop who tried to go round, but elsewhere a driver just ignored the marshal.

Police helped, but drivers generally only behaved when they were there. And we don't always have police present.

I can imagine. The last year of Ride London, which as such a big event it will have had policing and a had tons of marshals, had problems with incursion onto the route.

Puzzle game procrastinator!

Even having police there doesn't always help. I remember a driver refusing to stop in the Kellogg's Tour in 1994 and causing a multiple pile-up...

A police spokesman later in the video explains that a motorist ("I know my rights!!") refused to obey the instructions of several officers and forced his way onto the road just as the peloton was arriving!
