28C tyres on a Century SE

With the limited selection of bikes available for me to try up here the Century SE is looking like a frontrunner but I want to be sure it can take 28c tyres. The LBS has said no problem but then they are trying to sell a bike. I know I could return it if it didn't do what they said but I would rather not waste their time or mine.

So question is , has anyone fitted 28c tyres to a Century SE with Mudguards in place?
