I like the Michelin Pro4 Endurance, which I've found to be similar to Marathon Supremes in performance terms (ie speed and puncture protection), though I'm not sure you can get them any more as the Pro4 range has been superseded by the Power range.

A quick Google shows they're still listed as available on CRC, and in 28mm:

ETA: I've not used the Power tyres, but some reports suggest they're even better than the Pro4.

Durano's come in different flavours. I fitted raceguards which I described as plush but I'm not sure what level of protection they offer and wouldn't, in fact, actively avoid riding on gravel on them bit they are only 25's

Fair enough

I used to be a fan of Duranos for their puncture protection, long life and decent grip, but I found that on anything less than perfectly smooth road surfaces they were quite unpleasant to ride - I put this down to the rigid sidewalls. Marathon Supremes are noticeably more supple and fast, but still offer reasonable puncture protection.

I know many people are still fans of Duranos though, which is also fair enough!
