Mumbles Pier cafe.
Lovely scrambled eggs on toast and a tea with enough for two cups in the pot.
And of course that amazing view across Swansea Bay.

Late to the party again and only just noticed the challenge is on for this year. I'll join again, and hopefully get to a few more on the bike once my arm is mended.

Don't be afraid to re-visit some favourites from last year and give them some business. My favourite shut, citing increased costs and fewer customers due to cost of living 😢.

I’ve been slow off the mark ref my goal of 26 new cafes in 2023! But I started well on Sunday! I was in the New Forest for a gravel riding weekend with an organisation called Bikepacking Buds and we stopped twice at a fantastic bike shop/cafe in Lyndhurst, the Woods Cyclery. Can’t speak highly enough of the place! Delicious sandwich, delicious coffee, delicious cake and really nice people!

Cafe 2 and 3 in a weekend!

Cafe 2 was Dexter’s in Bath. The son was at a maths seminar at the uni so the husband and I snuck off for a quick coffee date! Superb almond croissant and excellent coffee.

Cafe 3 today was the Lock Inn Cafe in Bradford on Avon, as part of a ride from church in Devizes to the son playing football in Bath! Lovely ride! Cafe was okay but a bit meh!

I'm out of the starting blocks.

Café no. 1 Signals Cafe on Saltburn. Excellent coffee and breakfast, only let down by outside food orders being served in takeaway containers. My wooden fork broke when I cut my bagel so it all got a bit messy! There's a side hatch for takeaway drinks and food orders so ideal for keeping an eye on the bike.

Café no. 2 Dotty's Vintage Tearoom on Staithes. It was difficult to tell what this was going to be like as the windows were so steamed up! We ended up with the best tea and scones we've had in years, only let down by the cream not being clotted. Very enjoyable after a sunny 8 mile coastal walk.

Cafe No.5 The Lighthouse Bar & Kitchen, Bracelet Bay, Limeslade, Mumbles nr Swansea.
Recently changed name from Castellemare.
Lemon drizzle cake was good but had to wait 10 mins for the Cappuccino which cost £3.20 and was the size of an eggcup.
Also had to ask for sugar as none came with it or was on table.
Place seems to have completely lost its charm from when it was Castellemare.
Great views etc of course.

DCLane

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Out ticking off my first imperial century of the year there were three stops today.

Café 7: Apple Blossom Caravan & Camping Park (self-service café), near Snaith in North Yorkshire.

This is a regular of mine on a 'longer' ride. Today, with a coffee and cake for £2.80 into the honesty box, I sat watching gliders from nearby Burn so forgot a photo. Worryingly I was sat in the same place as last year, so that photo will have to do. And yes, this is a café:

pxl_20220311_114006166-jpg.jpg

Café 8: Tea By The Lock, Naburn

I was then aiming to stop at the Waterfront Café in York Marina, but they were incredibly busy. I was warned it'd be a long, long wait so left them as I saw a different place open nearby.

Tea By The Lock is next to Naburn lock and is a plant-based café which is a bit different. Very higgledy-piggledy throughout it was also very busy. I had a 25-minute wait for a coffee with oat milk (?) and nice sandwich for £10.90  . Two photos; one of the inside and one outside. It'd definitely benefit from a massive tidy-up outside and probably inside as well but the location is lovely:

PXL_20230219_141355794.jpg

Café 9: Queen's Mill Tea Rooms, Castleford

An impromptu stop as I'd done a lot of miles back into a headwind and apparently I interrupted an afternoon Valentine's tea with singer. But still ...
Coffee and cake was provided for £5.70 as long as I sat outside as I only had my helmet and bike, not SWMBO:
