Spoke in depth tonight with the Daughter, on the website where it asks about working with vulnerable people she was told to say yes, as she does, and she'll need proof of this from her employer, she has a letter, so unless your Daughter is in the same boat I guess she'll have to wait.

She's in Tomorrow so I'll let you know what happens.

My daughter is a Year 3 teacher so no special needs though some have attention issues.

She doesn't work with special needs kids just 'vulnerable ' which in some cases simply means there's too many other kids at home for the parents to cope so they send them in!

I think it's bulls*** to be honest but all the staff are getting done so she's not going to say no.

I'm 61 and got through to "choose a centre" so assume I could have booked. Nothing available closer than a 2 to 3 hour round trip so I'm going to wait until something turns up a bit closer.

Jab due Sat afternoon, is there any issues with travel i.e. is it okay to cycle their and back (or drive) or do I need to be a passenger?

You're not supposed to drive for 15 minutes or so after the jab (advice given to my wife 2 weeks ago and to me today).

If you go to a mass vaccination centre you may not be driving/cycling for 5/10/15/20 mins after so I don't see it as an issue.

First jab done - felt a tad 'burny' when the vaccine was pumped in unlike the flu jab which has no sensation of anything at all going in.

O-AZ was the vac' of choice - presumably as it was at a mass shopping centre venue that wouldn't have very low storage temperature facilities.

The nurse said I mustn't do any chores around the house including coffee making, cooking or lightly dusting the 'stuff' in the front room etc - basically she said I need pampering.

Gorgeous wife's response was too rude for this forum.

It's sensible but 15 mins isn't needed any more for AZ vaccine and even the storage guidance for the Pfizer vaccine may be about to change.

I would worry that people going to mass vaccination centres may be worried about driving or cycling. If that's the case unlike the GP centres someone won't be leaving the mass vaccination centre quickly and someone might as well make their life easier by cycling/driving . We have nice weather at the moment too, the snow has gone so if someone is lucky and gets out quickly they can enjoy the sunshine before heading home.

Had mine a while back (>70 group) and the OH yesterday.

Talking (on the phone) with our daughter yesterday, who hasn't yet been done. She reminded us that she had to attend a parent's evening with her son/our grandson that evening. We were a bit alarmed, until she said that it was being done via Zoom or other such trickery and they would be in the comfort of their own home.

How times have changed. I can easily see such technology continuing for some time.
