I am interested in converting my drop bar carrera subway to 700c wheels as the stock wheels weigh ton .

I stuck a road wheel in the front just to see clearances and apartfrom the disk brake caliper which im guessing is because the wheel is not dished for disk brakes (?) their was plenty of room. The back i havent tested as i have not got a 135 mm hub wheel .
I assume that the 700c wheels that a re set up for disks would slot straight in without having to alter the brake calipers ?
I have read that fitting bigger wheels raises the centre of gravity but i cant see how as you have skinnier tyres your not that much higher ?
Or would it be easier to get a lighter set of 26 " wheels ? would only be £100 for the set which i know isnt a lot .

Can't see why not if there is clearance, I changed my Raleigh 'City' to 700c (from 26 x 1 3/8") and that's got Caliper brakes, admittedly I had to change Calipers but that meant I could ditch the bent steel originals and fit some nice Aluminium ones I had in the shed (A Wiennman 500 on the front and an 'Alpha' on the back)

On another forum someone suggested 650 b wheels , i cant say i have any experience of them .
Has anyone any thoughts on 26 vs 650 vs 700 c ?

I ran a set of 700c on a Cannondale MTB that was designed for 26" they were described as Specialised 29er wheels, but ran fine with 30mm Marathon Racer tyres, they slotted in with no adjustment of the calipers needed, but experience tells me it may not be the same for all wheels and a bit of side to side adjustment may be needed.
