Just some feedback: The tyre got me round a 205km Audax with 2500m climbing. Lots of ice (one section of nearly half a km of sheet which brought some riders down) lots of debris, mud and salt grit. It was average -2’c with a minimum of -6’c so it was tough for anyone. Man or machine. We rode in many hours of darkness and no one wants to deal with mechanicals when a warm pub is the Arrivée.

I doubt patches would have bonded in such low temperatures so I had spare inner tubes. But nothing happened so kudos again to Schwalbe Durano for being fantastic winter tyres.
impressive ride!

When to change a damaged tyre is one of the most divisive questions in cycling.

One camp will ride a tyre until the canvas is showing, and even then continue until the canvas looks thin!*

The other camp will replace at the first sign of damage. **

I tend to the latter camp. But I am sure that I've also binned tyres that had several thousand miles of useful wear in them. The thing is, I'm not expert enough to look at a split and say for definite that all will be well and anyway, I'd rather ride than spend time at the roadside repairing a tyre or puncture.

* This is a very slight exaggeration!
**This isn't an exaggeration.
