Quite a nice idea that, for the commuter types out there.

That should be 'Fewer locks'

Although this is a lock.

(Just doing the customary negative response to kickstarter ideas)

Nice video, good marketing by Curtis, I almost feel like backing it cos he seems like such a nice chap!

Can anyone tell me what is the point of quick release wheels? Non quick release aren't really that difficult/time consuming to release. And it seems that a lot of time/effort goes into finding ways of securing the quick release wheels which seems to defeat the object!

I put my bike in the car every day (oneway commute) Quick release wheels make this much easier.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Its a good idea. Simple idea, simple to use, and seems to, work well without fuss and needing a phd in engineering. NIce. I'd buy it.

My design for a quick release: A hexagonal prism, with a central hole cut with a thread to match the axle. This can be installed and removed with a matching tool to grasp the faces of the prism, and tighten using the axle thread against the dropouts. This takes only a little more time to install or remove than a standard quick release and has fewer components to cut manufacturing costs. The requirement for a special tool will discourage theft. The small time penalty using this device is little inconvenience to anyone apart from bicycle racers (and awkward buggers like @KneesUp ) who need to make very fast wheel changes. Further, the convenience of quick releases on the front wheel has been largely negated by "lawyer lips" on forks, so the difference in time to change a front wheel using this device is negligible.

(That said, the linked device does look quite neat, except that it only works with external cam QRs, not the better quality internal cam ones. If you have fancy wheels you're more likely to have quality QRs that this won't work with.)

[QUOTE 3317333, member: 45"]Apparently you can unscrew the QR from the other side with a good pair of pliers or mole grips.

I wouldn't buy it.

Exactly what I was thinking, but then he has a video showing how hard it is to do just that. A video that reminded me of this

It isn't something I need due to the lack of locking up a bike with QR in dodgy places. But I prefer QR for many reasons, not least that most good quality bikes with gears come with them as standard, and to replace with bolt on axles means a lot of expense and wheel rebuild

Nicely produced campaign and I would like to see him succeed
