Hi again.

After spending the morning polishing the car to an inch of its miserable life a bike ride was in order for this afternoon. As usual the planned ride turned into something different and ended up doing just under 50 miles.
Everything was all well and fine and then at around 35 miles I started getting really hungry and I couldn't stop thinking about chocolate hob nobs. In fact i was almost craving for them, and then I saw a shop. I was straight in like a bull in a China shop and 2 minutes later I was sitting in the wall out side gorging on these biscuits..They tasted so good after waiting patiently for a shop to come my way. I was stupid not to of taken any energy bars with me today and just had a water bottle full of juice.
Does anybody here experience food cravings whilst out on the bike for sweet surgery foods. If I don't whilst riding i most certainly do when I get home.
All the best
Johnny ..

Probably better for you than some super processed energy bar

I can't eat chocolate cycling, flapjack though!

I have the opposite problem, I'm not normally very interested in food when I'm riding and when I get home I don't usually want to eat untill the following day.

I'm a f@t bastard getting thinner so have a good suitable meal before setting off and take fruit with me plus some emergency biccies. Sorry to sound like a wet blanket. Did 73 miles today. 50g oats in porridge plus blueberries and a banana then on the ride a banana, 2 granny smiths and an itsy bitsy treacle tart with coffee.
You did 73 miles today!! Well done buddy, That's really good going .

I take a Soreen malt loaf on long rides and just keep taking the odd bite out it.
It's loads cheaper than energy bars ad I've never bonked since started using them.
The taste probably isn't for everyone but i love them.

No never.
But I have hallucinated pork-pies and charged into a Spa shop after 50 miles for an 8 pack of mini Melton Mowbrays.
Back in the day a sweet little tart after 30 miles was quite pleasant....now I'm older I just don't seem to know any......

Now that sounds like a good idea. I love soreen malt loaf and as you say it costs next to nothing. It won't melt either in your back pockets like Chocky Hob Nobs do :-))

Chocolate hob nobs! Chocolate hob nobs? What sick puppy took the fabulous hob nob and smeared chocolate on it? Sheesh........... Worse than that.........you ATE it!. Really? What were you thinking? You'll only encourage them. Next time you get hungry on a bike ride, reach into your pocket/ saddle bag/ bar bag/ pannier and grab a nice chewy home made flap jack, ideally made with dates, and chew on that whilst on the move. Never let the foul perverted abomination of a chocolatised hob nob sully your lips again............

I stopped eating them when my teeth got really dodgy but I have had the bad fillings fixed now so maybe it is time to start buying malt loaf again! :okay:
