Being a lover of older comedy,i have just sent for the complete series of Goodnight Sweetheart.A bargain,11 discs delivered for £10-99,i found it on a uk deals site, while looking for a t- shirt.
(Yes Vernon i agree i ought to get out more).
This underated comedy then set me a question.
If you could travel back to a point in time which suited you, would you change things for your advantage.

open savings account in my name, insert money, travel to future, remove money head back and insert the same money into bank again.

I'd go back to 1980
Get myself a stock broker
Buy as much as I could afford in Polly peck shares to be sold early in 1990, profit to go into buying Microsoft shares to be sold early in 2000, and then I guess it put all the money into Gold

I think £1 in 1980 would be about £75 by 1990, about £300 by 2000 and £600 by today
So a couple of grand in 1980 and I'd retire now.
I'm sure with a bit of research on the stock market I could find better investments (and avoid the bad ones), as I'd use some of the money to buy a large house in 1993.

I often think about going back in time and having a word with my younger self. This presents several problems; How would i go about approaching me? Which 'age' of me should i have a word with? What would i say to me? Would my younger self take any notice? It could make for interesting reading... or maybe not.

Then of course there's the opportunity to see all those bands I'm just too darn young to have seen... I could even introduce Jimi Hendrix to Chas Chandler and have my name etched in rock history.

I could try to make myself rich but... we've all seen Back to the Future 2... lessons have been learned.

Now, I'm not suggesting this this would be a good idea, but what would happen if you went back and killed your younger self? Would the Universe break, or what?

A friend of my parents wanted to take me to see Jimi Hendrix in 1967 when he played in the Imperial in Darlington. They quite rightly said no. I was nine at the time. I'm not grieving over the missed opportunity, I'd have hated it at the time as the musical tastes of the UK can be judged by the number ones:

Release Me - Englebert Humperdink
San Francisco - Scott McKenzie
I'm a Believer - Monkees

Get the idea?

My wife however has considerable bragging rights having seen the Beatles. Crap gig though - you couldn't hear the music for the screaming of the fans.
