My challenge is to decide whether to continue the Imperial Century Challenge for 2026.
This year will see me hopefully complete 15 years of the challenge. However since my two main cycling buddies gave up long distance riding last year I'm finding it very difficult at times to get on the bike for a full days ride. Especially in the colder, darker months.

I found a group mid-year. Now two are long term recovering (Replacement knees), one has seemingly stopped riding. And one has gone completely AWOL. Which at times doesn’t now breed encouragement to get out, especially when conditions aren’t wonderful.

That must be trebly compounded for you when doing ‘very long’ rides; unlike mine…..

I retire in April. With the extra time I have on my hands I fully expect my annual mileage to increase significantly, that's my challenge to myself.

Mine went the other way after I retired last year - I lost the 10-15 miles each way on the commute and started to enjoy the lie ins more.

Edit - I'm going to have another year at the 50k challenge which will also include a sub challenge of one ride per month outside Suffolk again.

My challenge is to build up my speed so I can go fast enough to pass the girl next door on her little Barbie bike.

Ambitious, ain't we!

I’m looking at a Scottish 1300km Audax , and an Irish 400km Audax next year as some key events in my diary. The first I need to average 288km (179 miles) a day for 4 and a bit days , the latter is 250 miles in a day. I do have a trekking trip to the Himalayas before those though. Biggest challenge will probably be getting my long distance cycling endurance back up to speed in a shorter timescale than usual.

A very timely reminder, thank you.

Don't forget the challenges that don't focus on distance.

I've enjoyed working through the alphabet on a couple of occasions - the ABC of village names and the ABC of saints' names come to mind.

Is there a 100km ride a month challenge?
Yes
One thing I haven't said is if you start in January in one of the longer challenges but fail it to get ride during a month later in the year but have done a ride over the lower distance challenge that month you are welcome to drop into that challenge as if you started that in January

Mine is to get back out and do some overnight bike packing trips. Not really done any distance since breaking my hip/pelvis, Only done a handful of 30 mile rides, other than my daily commuting by bike. Poor year this year !
