Another post saying that gmail seems a lot better than "anything Microsoft" at blocking that sort of stuff

problem is that it can take ages to convert all your contacts - including all the companies - to use a different email address

I don;t generally use anything diectly - I use an email thing on my laptop mostly

That does tend to mean that I have 2 things looking for Spam
firstly Gmail has a go
then Thunderbird has a go

so general rubbish gets stopped quite well

Also - most systems have a thing where anything going to Spam/Junk gets deleted after a certain time so you don;t need to go and delete them all the time
I have no idea if Outlook does or not - but it might

This inspired me to check my " Junk " email folder. Only two legitimate emails and neither important. Loads of " Storage Full will delete everything unless you upgrade " rubbish, and an oldie but goldie from a woman who has over 8 million dollars that she inherited from her husband, but has just been diagnosed with a terminal disease which will see her depart this mortal coil in six months. Of course, as I am such an upstanding character she wants to send it to me so that I may carry out good works, all I need to do is to contact her solicitor to arrange transfer of the funds. The lord indeed moves in mysterious ways as this same lady has been hanging on for several years post diagnosis as she contacted me several yearss ago. I suppose credit where credit is due as at least the scammers are recycling some of the older scams.

It was a man in my case, that was dying and wanted to pass on his money to me. Popped his clogs before I could get to Aberdeen to swap bank details.
