@jonny jeez - which right are you referring to? If it is into Southend Lane down into Sydenham I could do with some advice on how to ride that road safely. I even took a Bikeability trainer along it and asked. He scratched his head and admitted he didn't have a clue either.

BTW its Catford Police Station. Been there many times

Not sure bit I have a feeling you are talking about the lit junction just before peter pans pool...opposite the new block of flats...in which case, no its a bit earlier than that, a smaller side road.

I think that a lot of people would be interested in a thread giving advice how to turn right across a multi lane road. I have resorted to crossing using the island in the middle when the cars are stopped at lights, but not all side roads have lights.

It is not for the fainthearted. You need to be fast and be able to turn your head right back without wobbling.
I do it only at 6am on a Sunday morning, otherwise I take a different route or cross at lights.

Alternatively, someone is reluctant to advise (which implicitly means criticise current practice) another person on how to navigate their way on a bike around roads that were undesigned for cyclists. No easier man on man than man on woman or woman on man, I reckon.

Another alternative being that I'm not all that serious about my post, I reckon.

But it is like the stress of not knowing if it's okay to hold open doors for women, etc.

Before Homebase. Where the old Tiger pub used to be. Whitehorse Lane is to your left. It was originally conceived as the South Circular Relief.
It's interesting that you can still see the fingerprints of pre war road planners. If you follow Whitefoot La over a non-existent railway bridge it meets up with Jevington Way and Mottingham lane, both very wide roads obviously intended for greater things which head towards the current A20/S Circular roundabout.
