What do you reckon to the 9 karat carat (take note @Gunk ) gold chain at £400? Would you buy it or just buy a 'cheapo' gold plated one for the watch? 🤔

Depends on the weight of it. Prices are generally based on scrap value of the gold content. At current prices it the chain is around 23g, or more, then it is a fare deal. The heavier it is the better the deal. If it is much lighter then it depends how much you want it.

Personally I would not go for gold plate with a solid gold item.

Nope, don't buy a plated one. The base metal (usually brass) is harder than the gold, and will eventually wear through the bow on the watch.

What does it have on the end? I have some chains with T bars and some without. Those without have a belt / pocket clip.

A gold T bar can be picked up for ~£100 or so.

I think it could be a necklace chain. It has that kind of fitting. Maybe it'd be best to buy one online and leave that one alone. 🤔

One end has a sprung open/close 'thingy' on it. The other end has a non open round link, if I remember rightly. So if I bought that chain I'd have to buy a T-bar and have it fitted I suppose. 🤔

Mind you, looking at the prices of 9 carat Albert chains on here https://www.etsy.com/uk/market/9_k_gold_watch_chain, maybe It'd be cheaper to buy that chain and get a T-bar fitted. 🤔

@Regular.Cyclist @Reynard I have the watch here in my flat...pics to follow. I've managed to open the outer case but not the inner one. Any ideas how to do it? 🤔 I've watched a few vids showing how to and they had a tool, similar to a knife, but with a flat end. Will I need one of those to open it?
