Just been round to have breakfast with my 88 year old mum, stopping off at a coffee shop on the way to take her one of their hot choccy offerings.
I had no idea that such a simple act could give someone so much pleasure.
She took the lid off, looked at the chocolatty brown bubbles bursting at the brim, sniffed them, stuck her nose in the air, smacked her lips and offered up the following:- "I love the smell of hot chocolate first thing in the morning."

Mums are so wonderful.

So, let's have a thread on great mums and the things great mums do.

OK... my Mum is 83 and as fit as a butcher's dog. She leads a local Ramblers' group and walks 6-10 miles at least three times a week, goes to a gym once a week, sings in three choirs, is a guide at the local museum, is never in when I phone and is constantly fighting off randy old retired colonels who ask her out for dinner.

But Mrs Gti hates her and she lives 5 hours away so I only see her twice a year.

To celebrate having all 3 sons in the country at the same time, my mum, 82, took us out to Sunday lunch yesterday. She didn't want to have a cherry franzipan sweet if none of us was having anything so we had to persuade her to have one. She was paying for it, after all.
