Advice re selling a cycle that I don't use

I only ride road cycles of which I have two.

The Hybrid is a £600 bike in good condition.Bit of an impulse buy. It lives in the dining room 😀. I could do with some advice. Thinking I may be allowed to put it on here? I don't know the rules. I have no idea of the sort of price. If someone can guide me that would be appreciated.

Yes; the forum has a sales section so by all means list it here - although the audience is a fair bit smaller than other sales portals such as FB marketplace or Gumtree. No harm in listing it in multiple places however.

I'd advise you look on ebay sold listings for an idea of price; but be warned that the used market is pretty dead currently; especially for entry level road bike and hybrids such as yours.

FWIW I sold my Boardman Team Carbon through FB Muppetplace recently and only lost about 25% of what I'd spent on it, after six years of ownership. That said the guy who bought it was the only one who'd shown interest after months of being for sale / several price drops... and I think I got lucky in finding someone local for whom a quick purchase was more important than outright cost.

Good luck!

Check Ebay regarding what they have been sold for and TBH I'd stick it on there for the best price. You will have to pay the fees but its better than selling it on here because they tend to want a very low price and it giving to them. FB Marketplace is full of messers as well.
Check with local clubs if anyone wants it as well.
I'd say its worth around £250-£300 ish as it looks in very good condition.
People on FB/ here will be saying things like £50 in cash, all day long.

Swings and roundabouts on the platforms as none are ideal; agree that Muppetplace is full of scumbags and chancers, however the selling experience on ebay has also become utterly hateful (although more on account of the platform itself rather than buyers) plus is expensive to boot. At least with FB you can juts block the bellends.. while it's harder (impossible) to circumvent the horrors of selling on ebay.

Nice bike but ...

... can I be the first to have a fit of the horrors because it's in big/big?

(Just for clarity - that was a joke. I don't care a hoot about cross chaining.)

I've had better experiences on Ebay personally.
I wont sell a bike again on FB, or if I was desperate I'd say the price is fixed and offers will be ignored. The amount of idiots I've had off that platform is untrue. Plus there's having to wait in for people who never turn up etc.
Lots of scammers as well on it and on Gumtree.

Nice looking bike. What size?

It fits an adult. I am 5' 8" and the seat tube can go higher. On the top bar it says HYB 8.6

The bike would need to be collected (South Yorks)
Thinking of putting on here and maybe a couple of other sites at a decent price at about 25% of the orginal price for a quick sale and no haggling.

Gumtree or eBay on a reduced fees if you can get one. I’ve sold (and bought) a number of bikes on both with no issues.
cash on collection and ignore the scammers offering to send a courier to collect!
£300 ish is probably realistic, stick it up at £350, your 25% off is very optimistic

Yeah, that's fair. I used to sell a lot on ebay back in the early days and actively enjoyed it... now after a raft of consistantly terrible experiences I refuse to sell on there as everything is stacked against the seller and locked down hard, while those charged with "helping" have usually been antagonistic, condescending and anything but helpful.

Totally agree about FB though; seems to dredge up the dregs of potential buyers... although I think to an extent it depends on what you're sellng. While probably in the minority I've dealt with some sound people on there too and all things considered prefer it to giving ebay my money.

Silver varients of this bike have typically sold for £150-300 on ebay. I believe this is probably an earlier (2019) model, which may or may not affect value relative to these.

Were it mine and I wasn't in a hurry I'd probably chance my arm at £325 or £350 and knock it down by £25 every couple of weeks until it sells.

Also @night cycler, if you want anyone to buy it you'll have to know what frame size it is - IIRC Boardman usually put this on the seatpost tube.

I had a horrendous selling experience (police involved) on faceache; as a consequence I delisted everything I had on there and refuse to use it, at least for selling, ever again.

£150 is too cheap. That sort of price will but buyers off (looks like a scam). I second £200. I would advertise at £250 or £275 and accept any offer over £200.

I think some other posters are misinterpreting "25% of" as "25% off".

Really sorely tempted myself - I could definitely make use of it. But I'd need some time to see if I can clear enough storage space before making any kind of commitment !!!
