This is all going a bit "P&L"!.....

I'd certainly lump them in with the Arctic Monkeys (*who I like lots, but who said I had to be consistant) and the White Stripes. Who care's where they're from!

Indy-Lite.

Arctic Monekys, White Stripes and the Strokes all managed to be original, something you could never accuse Coldplay or Keane of!

The Kings of Leon's first album was great, but it's been downhill ever since.

And have you seen the top selling albums of the decade? I'm no longer street, hip and cool but even I want to slash my wrists:

1 BACK TO BEDLAM – JAMES BLUNT: 3,120,833 Shite
2 NO ANGEL – DIDO: 3,023,288. Sounds like a woman singing to herself as she walks across a supermarket car park
3 WHITE LADDER – DAVID GRAY: 2,888,025 That head bobbing always bugged me
4 LIFE FOR RENT – DIDO: 2,823,569 Sonic Polenta
5 1 – THE BEATLES: 2,775,654 Compo, so doesn't count
6 SCISSOR SISTERS – SCISSOR SISTERS: 2,686,705 I like, but would have been more impressive had Elton john never existed
7 A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD – COLDPLAY: 2,638,927 Sorry but I like this too
8 HOPES AND FEARS – Keane: 2,627,253 Yep and this. I won't be swayed by the crtitics. Flame away
9 X&Y – COLDPLAY: 2,473,433 Dull
10 BACK TO BLACK – AMY WINEHOUSE: 2,467,575 Very much like AW I think she's the genuine article but only found myself listening to this three times.

On a similar thread on another forum once, I listed 10 completly fictitious albums as my favourites in order to confound the 'Hipper Than Thou' posters.

Amazingly, one poster came back praising some of my choices.

'Crabapple Moon' by Michael Philpott was my favourite

Legendary jazz stylists, The Marvin Bumfinch Project, are my favourite made-up band...

MBP! Great, almost Neanderthal, band. Their drummer, Lumpa Nobsheese, was a major influence on Mo Tucker. They were from Swindon.

A mate of mine reckons he saw them practice in a scout hut in the Walcot east (might have been west but it's a few years back) side and they were trying to do the intro to a cover of 'Fridge Magnet' and they took about twelve goes to get it right.
