My Mrs was looking on the Aldi website earlier, and it seems they're having another cycling gear event. The usual fayre, jerseys, bibs, shoes, work stands etc etc..........with one notable exception, Garmin Edge 500 GPS units for £79.99.

Already got the 510 myself, but will certainly be trying to get my hands on a 500 for my son. Early trip to the supermarket on Thursday I guess.

They've also got turbo trainers, which I think is a first for ALDI. No details about them on the web site, well, apart from a video of one going round and round.

Meanwhile, in a parallel Weld, LiDL have packs of High 5 Energy stuff at £7.99 a pack but £10 for 2. (One of the packs is for Marathon running [green?] but the other one seems more cycle specific.) I've no idea what's in them but I picked one of them up and it seemed pretty weighty.

Used to use Hi5 on my MTB years ago. Usually can't stand the taste of most energy drinks, but their citrus flavour was so good.

About 4 cyclists waiting for opening at 8 today. I've got a few bits and pieces.

If you're referring to the merino stuff, I'm not sure that they've done proper merino base layers before. I think it's take a punt time.
They had them last year, they felt more itchy than my dhb ones but I returned mine because of sizing so I don't know what they'd have been like after a wash.

Picked up one of the red £29.99 cycling jerseys. Seems a good fit in Xlarge except for the front which is almost up over my belly button. Will be returning it later.

Only two Garmins available to public at my local Aldi both sold before 8am.
That's a shame. I went in to Aldi in Cowes on the Isle of Wight this morning to pick one up for my son and they appeared to have quite a few. Think I was there at about 8.30am and expected it to be alot busier, especially with such a good price on the 500. It wouldn't be right, but I wonder if the staff get first dibs on these kind of deals?

It's always a good idea to try stuff on anyway, but particularly with Aldi as they're sizing is often all over the place. The cycling jersey looked good (and I bought one in the end), but it is very short at the front so bear that in mind and go up a size!

Tempted to go back and buy the wool body baselayer but I think going to Aldi twice in one day might be a bit overkeen.

The compression tops work as a base layer and have three vest type for (spring/autumn) and two long sleeve ones, those with the winter shirts (full zip) was all I wore most of last winter, I have a winter Jacket thats on its third season should it get toward zero, I tend to get the female L tops as they seem to fit my body shape better, and they tend to be left over when things get reduced.
