Why is it that when a video or thread pops up about a cyclist getting shouted at or threatened, do people say "I would have hit him" when clearly it never happens?
I am not an aggressive person but to get angry sometimes. I shout things and make threats. However, I will never be the first one to throw a punch. The last time I hit someone was over 6 years ago in high school.
I have never seen a video of a cyclist and car driver fighting where the cyclist has come out on top. The cyclists always gets knocked to the floor by an enraged cager.
I was threatened today but a big meat-head about videoing people. He didnt mention cycling, only driving and my car. I have never seen the guy in my life and cannot remember videoing him. He talked about videoing everyone, so I think he might know someone who did a stupid thing.
People get so defensive over pretty minor things. If I make a mistake when driving (and I have made a few), then I will hold my hands up to it. If I have uploaded a video of someone doing something stupid/dangerous, then chances are that they were in the wrong, or we both were. Doesnt mean you should threaten the person with physical violence.
The incident with the guy could have been worse as he attempted to take my camera when I unlocked my car. Fortunately he just threatened me when I mentioned the police and his friend told him to take a pic of my car.
I always hear common things from people like this. "If I see you again" "I'll smash your head in". It gets boring after a while.
I'm going to calm down with the amount of driving I do and just restrict it to college, work, and transporting family about. I dont think I will go out just for the sake of it anymore.
I will try and do more cycling too. The guy didnt mention my bike, so I think that is a good thing.
My camera was running during the incident, however I am giving that to the police when they contact me.
