Was a chilly ride home in the freezing fog friday night.

Was quite cool when my beard got a coating of ice, was weird when my eyelashes started freezing together.

Very pleased with the studded tyres, only a couple 'argh' moment when hitting broken up slush, was like hitting a pile of sand though the front wheel caught itself quickly. Probably would have done even better had I stayed more relxaed but hard not to tense up when it feels like you're about to hit the deck.

There have been reports of -13 C 'round here. Still on the bike, though.

That's the only problem I've had with studded tyres - convincing myself to relax! It just seems crazy to be cycling over ice, so much that I've been walking the worst bits of my route. Decided to go for it on the way home tonight and cycled down a road that was mainly shiny ice - didn't fall off but realised how tightly I was gripping the handlebars!

-12 here this morning apparently (no wonder I had cold hands) - at least it's easy to get a space in the bike shed in this weather!

It's not the tempreture that's the problem for me, a few more layers of clothes sorts that out, it's just the ice that puts me off at the moment.

I havent been on mine for ages for one reason or another, dying to get back on it but I tend to do back roads and they dont get gritted, had a couple of nasty moments last year, the Land Rover wildly understeering towards me on sheet ice being the worst !
