Blimey what did he do - murder someone? Or was it one of those things that only matters if you care about sport, but is completely inexplicable to anyone who doesn't...

I read half of one of his books once (it was froma charity shop and had been misbound, so that it got half way through and repeated). Thought he seemed a bit big headed myself.

He wore the wrong jersey!

Sod all to do with sport.

Everything to do with people who fit the 'jobsworth' format of human!!

Scroll back a bit - there's a bit more to it, and good reasons why the people you deride as "jobsworths" would be wary of being seen to extend special treatment to Radioshack.

The "haters" thing is really boring isn't it? Tediously transparent attempt to avoid engaging with the (important) issues.

Not at all, it's just being bored with the same old arguments of which can't be backed up by evidence. It's a pointless exercise in my opinion, arguing about a issue which is so unimportant. I either like and respect someone, or I don't, no need to argue about it.

I remember a football team changing kit halfway through a match and not getting as much stick as Lance has got. Though scumchester deserve stick for most of what they do or are. Yes they did get a slagging from the press and everyone else but I don't remeber them getting fined by the FA

Call the jobsworths if you like, but jerseys are a big issue in the TdF

ONCE used always to have a yellow kit, but had to ride in pink so they would not be confused with the yellow jersey.

Think about it, you are in the top ten of the GC and you fancy jumping a few places by staging a breakaway. The guys in the places ahead of you know to keep an eye on you, but you change your jersey, hide in the pack, then do a breakaway and gain time on them

Obviously this is a different situation, but the rules are there for a reason, and have to be applied across the board.

As others have said, had Armstrong spoken with the organizers beforehand, informed the entire peloton, and signed in wearing the new jerseys, then it may not have been an issue at all

I'm guessing here, but could it be because football and cycling are different sports, with different rules?

Although I've never seen a cyclist done for hand ball, or dangerous play on the goalie, so I guess that evens things up, right?

I seem to be carrying on a parallel slugfest over in Racing!

Ignoring the arguments for a second, what amazes me about this kind of thread is that it invariably provokes the, "why are you still talking about Armstrong if you don't like him" response.
It's a cycling forum where most people who are aware of the huge and compelling bulk of circumstantial (and more in some cases) evidence, lead one to believe that the most famous cyclist and most successful in modern times, has feet of clay and has won his fame and TdfF's by using doping products.
Why would we not want to post about such duplicity?

I was talking to a friend of mine last weekend about cycling in general. This friend was at one time a full time professional athlete (long distance runner), Gold medal winner at the Commonwealth Games, so no slouch. He knows little of the cycling world, but I mentioned the latest Landisgate situation and how it might yet topple Armstrong, if the latter has done anything wrong.

His immediate reaction was "Good. I hope they nail the bastard", meaning Armstrong. His hatred and anger was a bit of a shocker, to be honest.

But then, considering his career in sport, and how he quit early because he got tired of all the drug taking, doping and cheating, I understand. His love affair with sport was ruined because of the actions of cheats, and he hates to see it happen to other sport too.

I rest my case.
