I also have a app called clean master, which does a good job of deleting all the junk files, and from that program you can disable of lot on apps you will never use (you can' delete them as they are factory installed, but disabling them saves power)

You can delete factory installed apps if you 'root' your phone. First thing I did with mine. BUT be careful if you decide to do it, there be dragons and you can stuff your phone entirely.

Battery save apps; wot everyone else says. They don't do anything (other than chew battery) that you can't do yourself manually.

They don't really work. Best option is a task manager type app that can close unwanted applications that run in the background.

If you are running an older version of Android then it's worth using a task manager. If you're running a newer version of Android (I'd suggest 4.1 or above, since Project Butter), then the operating system's own task manager is far more sophisticated. It may appear as if an app is running if you use the multi-tasking/recent apps list, however most of them (especially if your phone is running out of resources) are in a suspended state.

Miss Goodbody up the road asked me to help her root her appliance. I'm not quite sure what's involved, but I think we might be in for a long night!

Are you likely to know what you're doing, if not maybe she'll either show you or lend a hand?

Also of your phone is a bit elderly, its battery might not be as capable as it once was.
