Farmer in 'is cantankerous' shocker...

bonj said:Another incident later on when there were two stray sheep, one on either side of the road, and there was a clear passage through the middle of them. I thought, i know, if I hoon it through the middle they'll probably each be scared into the respective verge. The one on the right side of the verge obliged, but the one on the left started running to the left verge, but then at the last minute decided he wanted to be with his mate and did an about turn to then run to the other side of the road, straight in front of me! Slammed the brake on, and missed him by about 6 inches

The farmer shouldn't have opened the gate then!Wigsie said:Unfortunately sheep don't have the ability to learn the green cross code and will just walk onto the road. When on country lanes where farmers are likely to use roads to herd sheep/cattle there will be a sign and its up to YOU to be cautious.
bonj said:Sheep are morons. They deserve to be mowed down just for being so thick - it would help the gene pool by eliminating the ones that just don't know that when there is something bigger than them coming towards them at high speed then getting out of its way is more important than being with your mates.
It's a basic survival instinct.

Wee lambs think that anything bigger than them is their mum. So if you happen to be MTBing where there are lambs you can sometimes end up with a little procession of them behind you.
There's so much to learn in that big wide world beyond the white lines, the roundabouts and the traffic lights.bonj said:On sunday I apparently angered a farmer, although i'm not really sure what i did wrong,
Wigsie said:Survival instinct?? Ha ha to me survival instinct would be not riding too quick between two sheep! odds are they will follow each other and one will have to cross your path!
And I would like to wager you on a carbon road bike coming off far worse if you hit an adult sheep at over 20mph.

I love eating lamb and quite like wool in clothes.
