Went swimming in the Bay of Biscay in my youth quite far out from the shore. Felt something underneath me and swam back. Apparently it's a common sensation in deep water. Don't think I've been in open water since. Jaws didn't bother me and I enjoy all of the shark documentaries. Just won't go in open water and check before diving into swimming pools ;) Sharkeyblokes OK though.

They're evil little buggers and are rumoured to attack humans by ripping their gonads off. ;)

That'll be a healthy fear you've got then. Carry on.

I'm always a bit nervous around horses. Big smelly brutes

No, they are fine.
Best thing to do, is when you see them walking along the road, shout "BOOOO!" or slap the back of them as your going past the other way if you can, that soon gets rid of them

You and potsy are mental.. sharks are wonderful creatures! have been in close proximity to many and much prefer it to being near a moth or a small (evil bastard) monkey!

Morts fear of Honey badgers is sound too though along with wolverines (not Hugh Jackman with sideburns though).

There was an open air swimming complex in Morecambe, "Bubbles", with a wave machine.
I used to stick my goggles on and go underwater up to the big cage for the machine and scare myself silly that there was a shark hiding in the dark back there. I'd leg it.

And then go back and do it again

And again

Mental, probably but unless sharks learn to walk or fly or ride bikes I'm safe. You however need to watch out for honey badgers and small monkeys. Not to mention honey badgers with small evil monkeys on their backs spitting moths.
Wow this shiraz is good, even if it is Australian.

Good man. Wish I'd been closer to them than next to an aquarium... never saw one in all the years I did Scuba Diving.

They are indeed wonderful creatures. Such a joy to watch swimming, so sleek and powerful looking* Can't see why anyone would fear them... I guess they're another misunderstood creature. Of over 400 species there are only a handful that are actually of any threat to man... however, even with this in mind I understand the fear to a degree... whilst swimming/snorkelling in the Dominican Republic many moons ago I was happily finning away over the reef (using flippers to the uninformed) and then went over some form of drop-off into the deep blue yonder... the view beneath me disappeared to inky black nothingness, and the water went noticeably cooler... I promptly nearly sh*t myself and have never swum so fast back to the comfort of the reef in my life with visions of all kinds of nastiness appearing from the depths to devour me... sharks included.:rofl:

Have you not seen Jaws 1 2 and 3 I'll never go in the sea again
Then again I'm also scared of spiders  and have to get my cat to come and eat them for me :shy:

The only creature that scared me was a moray eel i spotted in the Mediteranean....like this..http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3251/2937534121_e11b3405f2.jpg?v=0
Snorkelling in a rocky bay, exploring the boulders and saw his head sticking out  I hovvered above him and the bugger came out and started swimming toward me..all slinky and slow.
I remember thinking as i looked at his jaws...bugger, i'm going to bleed like a stuck pig if he bites me.
Didnt panic, but got out of his way smartish, and he diverted into some more boulders.
Beautiful creature...but a bit scary
