I thought adds were what the mute button was made for.

All of 'em! So much so that i haven't turned the telly on since the TdF finished 11 days ago. Not just the telly but the adverts on You Tube videos are really pissing me off! Some of them are 90 seconds long and you can't skip most of them.

Where do I start

TRIVAGO, every break, at least twice.............hotel.....Trivago
The one for the AA, with the star part from the exorcist sitting in a brat seat in the back of the car pretending to sing Proud Mary
Any Argos advert, the woman who voices it boils my blood
Anything to do with wills, ppi, the over 50 plan, yada yada yada

Adverts are never funny any more. Years ago there was a comedy element to some of them, and some were bloody scary, such as the PIF ads - those are on youtube and are quite honestly terrifying:eek:

Apparently TV adverts earns on average £300 a year per consumer that is exposed to them.

No doubt we will be inundated with posts who don’t really understand advertising telling us they buy what they want, not what they’re told to. Whereas all successful advertising on TV is about brand awareness.
I recall sitting in the lobby of a hotel whilst on holiday 10 years ago waiting to be picked up for a trip. I picked up a magazine and came across an advert '10 reasons to buy a Mac'. Finding myself agreeing with most points I did some research and 10 years later am, almost, exclusively Apple in terms of phone, tablets, laptop and desktop computers. So that one advert proved successful for someone.

Nobody buys fairy liquid because of an advert. What they do however, is become more likely to notice it on a supermarket shelf/website amongst its competitors. And the consumer will quite often think the 'bigger' brands that cost a bit more are likely to be better than the budget alternatives.

Some won't be swayed by the latter (but many will) but most are affected by the former.

I've just thought of one that really annoys me. The army one with the lad who "grew up in Carlisle". Very good pal, your accent is more all over the place than Russel Crowe in Robin Hood.

Bloke in the advert is from Carlisle but they dubbed his voice with a north east accent!
