Cyclists demand loads of stuff to be made compulsory. Or something like that. The wording of the findings is unsurprisingly imprecise, and it looks like a frightful load of cobblers, but anyway ...

Article here: Cycling Weekly

A survey carried out by a car hire company [cheapcar.co.uk] has revealed that 87 per cent of its cycling customers believe bike lights should be compulsory at all times.
‘what could make cycling safer in the UK?’ in October 2017.

    • 87% – Bike Lights all the time
    • 81% – Compulsory helmets
    • 77% – Mirrors
    • 54% – Reflective jackets
    • 15% – Brake lights and indicators

I mean, only 15% for indicators? Come, on, you can do better than that.

Indicators, we've got arms for that job.

DLR's, if the people in the vehicle behind fail to see a set of traffic lights, with the red lit, a normal bike light won't stand a chance.

Edited to say that the traffic lights mentioned were actually being carried at the time, not at the side of the road(where they would normally be expected to be).

You want your survey to show that the majority of cyclists believe leopard skin print lyrcra makes you faster?
Let me show you how the experts do it:

Can anyone explain how some people are able to easily see cyclists at night and complain to the local rag.

In the same paper .Cycist in collision with car in broad daylight.Excuse to court I just didn’t see him.

Why is it it’s always the cyclist in collision with the car and not the prat in the car.

I wanted to type a witty reply but my brain failed me. I agree, this survey sounds like a load of old cobblers but unfortunately is the sort of stuff that gets the anti brigade all hot and bothered and makes government ministers start to think. And the latter is rarely a good thing.

I'd be surprised if any government minister had even seen the survey, let alone devoted time to it.
