Thats utterly unacceptable. Report the pith taking re your stammer to the police as a disablist incident, and see who's laughing when plod roll in to chat with them at work.

Bike ok?

Seriously though, i hope that you, (the bike and especially the wheels and saddle) are ok so you can get on with chasing up the bus company for a satisfactory outcome.

Never mind the driving: you were polite and friendly, and these guys, identifiable as employees of the bus company (I think) from their uniforms and the fact that they're standing next to a bus in a bus station, speak to you like that?

Utterly unacceptable attitude and behaviour from someone in any public-facing role in any company. There's no way these guys should be anywhere near the driving seat of a bus, and their boss needs to know it.

The Equality Act has replaced the DDA. It's bleddy outrageous the way they treated the OP and I fervently hope he reports it to the dibble. And perhaps a phone call to the local chip wrapper and tell them about the bus staffs attitude to disabled people.

Shocking I hope the Commissioners take his Licence off him. Idiots like him forget that their licence is vocational and can be revoked for behavior like this.

Disability Discrimination Act.....

They were totally out of order

As for ID, so long as you have the route number and time it is easy for the Company to identify the driver.

Write formally on two levels, firstly the incident and then ask how the drivers conduct meets the Company's requirements under the DDA, and what action they are going to take to ensure that this is not going to recur
DDA 1995 is no longer relevant. Replaced by the Equalities Act 2010, became law in 2011.

Edited to put the full name of the act & the year in which it actually became law

Dangerous driving, threats of violence and abuse of a disability.

I'd be sorely disappointed with anything less than a P45.

Jesus Ben. That truck driver was a gentleman, that bus driver a twot. I'm glad most of my rides are rural roads and fortunately see little of that.

I find bus drivers consistently give me worse overtakes than HGV drivers.
Here in Manchester, they vary.

The ones to watch out for used to be Finglands and "Magic Bus", with the other companies, mostly, being ok. (Finglands were mostly impatient, Magic Bus were just nasty, and I saw several incidents of them hassling cyclists by tailgating, punishment passing, &c) Recent changes to the road layout (e.g. the addition of traffic islands at some points that prevent their old trick of encroaching on the bike lane well ahead of an upcoming stop) have mitigated some of their behaviour, and Finglands have been taken over by another company recently.

Outside the city, the school services on old "Dublin Bus" vehicles (quite a distinctive blue and yellow livery) are driven appallingly, and I avoid those whenever I can. (Timing my commute to arrive before, or after they pass along problematic sections of my route). On one particularly memorable occasion, one driver attempted a pass by traffic islands, then tailgated me leaning on his horn when he couldn't pass, then punishment passed me, all to reach a red light one or two seconds before me.

On the upside, the 37 service, which I see a lot, is superbly driven, and I couldn't ask for a better example to other drivers than the one set by the drivers of these buses.

Most of my rides are uneventful to be fair.
