As a Melbourne girl, I'd say that's a reason not to go to Sydney. They rarely stray more than day trip from central Sydney; from the beaches to the north, to the wine area to the south and the picturesque mountains to the west they have Sydney region's tourist map covered. You're safe going east, because the Pacific is a bit too salty for them.
