I did install a computer system once where the first screen of the install procedure had 2 options

B was far more likely to be… just install it with the options the manufacturer wants.

True - this was for commercial system so would have no chance of external comms and sending data back to the manufacturer and all that rubbish

It was in more innocent times - and the sort of stuff techy people use so trying to get round the target audience would have been a bad idea
