The conditions look near perfect with almost all runs open: http://www.winterhighland.info/general/
We'd like to nip up for a few days but even from Lancashire (a few miles from the geographical centre of the UK!) it's a 7 hour drive to Aviemore so not something to be undertaken lightly. We are also concerned about the hogmanay crowds - I guess all accommodation will be sold out now? Also the winds seem to be causing some problems - nothing unusual for Scotland but maybe worth holding out for better conditions? With the weather looking set cold for the next week or longer the alternative is to dash up Friday afternoon the 8th. What do locals advise?
