Second year in a row that we have no invite. Wouldn't have done anything last year, but up for more this.

Must have been an unsufferable obnoxious git this year, then. Oh, well - New Years Resolution - be nice to people. Once. Or twice. no point setting my sights too high.

Or maybe we don't fit into the family or still thinking that we are young groups. Or too dull for the real party animals.

Anyway, might pop in later. Anyone brought midnight fluid with them?

Must be ten years since I had an invite...to see the year 2000 in.

Of course I didn't turn up.No more invites since.:headshake:

Sad that I am, the thought of a bowl of soup has perked me up. I'm off to roast some butternut squash. I've never been bothered about the whole New Year's Eve thing and am spending it on my lonesome this year. I'm reading Alastair Humphreys first book and watching a bit of tele.

Well, we're staying in. We used to go out to a neighbours but it became a chore & we ended up drinking too much & getting hangovers with people filling up glasses before you've emptied them!

We've had a rough few years & I'm more than happy to sit criticising the TV and sharing a bottle of nice red.

I'm expecting a couple of cycling friends on 31st for the night to stay - God knows where they're going to sleep as my place is very small! One in the mini-office, one on the sofa I suppose.

I do hope the ranging cat who visits at some time during the night doesn't enter through the cat flap and walk all over them.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! and I might just come back here later.

<getting increasingly merry>

Come to my party everyone! There's booze and food and loose women and looser men.

And a quiet room for people to have a little time out and read their books. Not enough parties have reading rooms these days...

2 kids asleep upstairs, wife due to give birth in two weeks and we've just moved house. A few Chardonnays will be the limit of our my celebrations this year.

Might stay up for the bells, just in case our neighbours pop over...

I'm doing nowt much tonight but I will enjoy doing nowt much very much and I would like to wish everybody on CC - Good health and some fun for next year

Nice! Me too.
I have just returned from my last commute. To celebrate, , I went to Trafalgar Square - a potential scene of bonhomie - to look at and photograph the scrawny, hairy lump of vertical wood masquerading as The Nation's Tree. What a let down.

Meanwhile, engineers (this wasn't yer usual council "slap up them barriers and push off" corps) were constructing a barricade of angle iron units to forestall the masses.

last FNRttC waiting time...
Winter Wonderland wa full steam ahead in Hyde Park, and, as I whistfully wheeled my way through hyde Park toward Marble 'Arch' (She gets around I've heard..) I was watching a golden retriever prancing in the snow and casting a consideration upon it's owner - as you do:tongue:
The dog went behind a tree and re-appeared, launching itself at me - exocet style - taking me completely by surprise. I stopped toppling over, just, and the dog was going mad, running around and around.
The lady began to apologise (I was cursing big gloves and well-wrapped camera because it was fun) "I am so frightfully sorry!" -which took me back to something out of The Importance of Being Earnest...a Lady Bracknell moment. Then I got scared, so laughed and said it was OK. The looks and the voice didn't match - odd.
OK status now: One beer, no food, Beethoven No7 in A Major busying on the hi-fi.
Photos later...

My party has a chill out room, I'll put a footstool in there for Mrs Magnatom to elevate her feet if she likes....

At work, first time I've been in since Friday the 18th of Dec as Mrs B was is hospital on the 22nd for an OP.
So I'm here, she's at home with her mum and she's got a pain/swelling in her left heel and is ringing the local GP for advice, all good fun eh?

The last new year I went out on was the millenium, and I can distinctly remember thinking, "Is that it?"

Come to my party for a repeat of that experience....

I had a glass of leftover cider with my dinner, and feel rather like having another. When that runs out, my real booze supplies are down to sherry (I didn't buy it, it was a leftover Xmas present yonks ago), sloe gin or a mouthful of Glenmorangie. Is that a recipe for certain death?
