I don't have a dog.

But my fiancee does! A big black labradoodle. He's not allowed in the bed, and if he was it would be in place of me. Pets in bed, another no vote here.

One of us will frequently take to the spare room but its usually if one of us gets too warm (i can't stand any heat at night).

I feel you get a better nights sleep on your own but its not something we do automatically, there's usually a reason for it.

Our dog may sometimes sleep on the landing or bedroom floor although i prefer him not too, he's an occasionally mildly smelly Lab...and for that reason, he's never ever allowed on the bed. (TBH, even if he were scrupulously clean, i wouldn't have him on the bed but that's just a personal preference)

None of my Cat's have 'Lice', the odd flea maybe but 'Lice' xx( never.
Either way, the poor dog suffers for the cat's socialising

The Glue that binds us together.
When all this business with Covid19 started, back in March, my wife decided we should sleep in different rooms so we don't breathe on each other all night. Well, a few days ago, I asked her when we would get back together at night again. She said she is quite happy to stay as we are as she sleeps better on her own, having more room in bed. I must add that she is 74 and me 69. At first, I was a bit taken aback but now, I feel I have adjusted and enjoy having the room and bed to myself.
Another reason why she wanted her own bed is also because Molly shares our bed and it didn't leave much room. Now , Molly chooses with whom she wants to be every night.
I tend to think now that this arrangement works well in fact.
A dog in your bed, I bet that smells well. Rather stick with the pussy:laugh:

So you keep the dog in the house, it doesn't get to go rooting around in the grass picking up Fleas and Ticks then?
It's not the dog that is bringing them in, she's 12 years old & never had fleas, until the cat turned up 3 years since then each summer despite using Spot-on the poor dog seems to suffer
