I always take my studs off as SWMBO doesn't like me wearing them .
Over the summer NHS Bristol conducted the UK’s largest and most comprehensive survey into non-collision cycling incidents, revealing some interesting statistics.
The survey revealed that slipping on ice is the most common non-collision incident, being mentioned by 26% of respondents. The next most common incident noted was slipping on wet roads, with 8% of reported incidents occurring in these conditions. The results of Bristol’s survey are most relevant to those using their bikes to commute.
Excellent idea, but then comes the report (my emphasis)
"It's important to note that cycling may be safer than people think. Over 70% of these non-collision incidents caused no injury."
If there was no injury, I wonder how the NHS found out there had been a fall.
We don't have drinking fountains here in Scotland, what you do is open you mouth, point it skywards ...I feel cold just reading this thread! My last challenging commute was a few weeks ago, when the 38°C heat made my commute slower than usual, with more stops to use drinking fountains.
I think I took part in that survey though I can't remember how I came across the survey.Don't be too keen to take them off if you live in Bristol!!!
I found this one and loved the outcomes, I knew it wasn't a brilliant summer, but........
