I have been offered one (a Rome 1) with a decent "end of year" discount and wondering if anyone has experience. If so would you recommend or not ?
I have a Giant Talon 1 but I really do not do the type of off-road that justfies this bike so thinking of a "hybrid" type bike.

Yes! I have a Roam 2 2014 model and its a really good bike. A little heavy compared to my Defy road bike but a different animal altogether. Great for rough canal paths and forest trails and does well on roads (fitted 35mm marathons on mine). Suspension can be locked out.

Thanks.
It does seem to tick a lot of the boxes.
Like you I have a defy road bike.........and the Roam is HEAVY compared to it.

Yes the suspension adds a few KGs

Maybe a CX bike would suit? Or a rugged rigid fork hybrid?

I am actually thinking of replacing my Giant Talon 27.5" with it.
It turns out that I am not doing the type of off-road that I thought I would e.g. it's mainly rough gravel paths & Trans-Penine-way.
The full sized wheels & slicker tyres would suit better.
Another option is to simply put semi-slicks on the Talon (as per my other thread).

Have you had a go on the Roam? It was my first real bike for many years and it put a big smile on my face when I had a test ride at Edinburgh Bike.

I have gone as far as sitting on one in the shop
If I decide to "probably" take the step they will arrange a test ride.
