I'm definitely a night owl. Usually go to bed after 11pm and try to make it before midnight on a weekday, weekends usually mean about 2-3am.
Getting up is a nightmare and it takes at least an hour before I'm awake. So if I have an early start I force myself to get up extra early to give myself time to wake.
At least once a weekend I need a lie in, often until midday. It does feel as if I've wasted part of the day, but as long as I've done all the necessary jobs on the other day, I don't mind.
But to the OP, I have no idea how you can make yourself a morning person. Perhaps force yourself up extra early and go to bed early even if your not tired.
