Hi I’m new to this group and myself and wife are novices but really enjoying it now and have gone from about an hr a day to start with to 3-4 hrs at weekends . I need motivation as in something that tells me how many miles I’ve rode and time etc . Rather than spend loads on gadgets is this an app for iPhone I can do this on and then further down the line purchase a good bit of kit . Thankyou kindly

Hi @Deeneymagic and :welcome:to the site.

It sounds to me like you are looking for Strava or something similar: https://www.strava.com/

Other apps which do the same are available.

Hi and welcome. I use Bikeometer and it tells me all I need to know, including a map of where I have been, statistics of every ride , weekly, monthly mileage as you wish. I strongly recommend it.

Hi Deeney,
There was a similar thread on here last week. Have at read at the replies in conjunction with the replies in this thread.

I should've expanded on that a little. I've not used it much, but what I do know is that you can download (upload?) standard GPX files to it and it can record your trips via GPS. When you press stop at the end it'll then give you a summary of said trip including distance, speed and elevation data. You can also buy OS maps via the app or the website. They do the whole of GB in 25,000:1 for about £250 or you can "rent" them for £24.99 per year. You can also just buy sections like you would if you were buying the map in paper form and can buy the 50,000:1 versions too, which are cheaper. The maps are downloaded over wiffy before you go, so it doesn't use any mobile data either. There are also loads of user trails available to download from the website. You just go to the website, sign in choose a trail/route and it will sync with your mobile device.

I don't do any of that, though, I just use the free maps!

Hope this is of more use than my last post.

I've been using sports tracker for years and converted to Strava once home.
This was because I've had windows phone for years. Now I'm on Android I might use Strava first.
