Are mobility cars worth considering if you only do around 2,750 miles a year?

Yeah, I know I said why spend 6 grand on a car that'll be parked up most of the day, but I do like this and it's in 7 miles from me Clitheroe. I think I'll go and have a look tomorrow.🤔

You'll be reet the sun doesn't shine in Lancashire!😭

I despise my Motability VW Taigo. It doesn't trust me to know how to drive so tells me off all the time. It's like being in an grumpy robot. But, after being a life-long owner of a chain of old bangers, the absence of breakdown anxiety is worth the irritation. I do a lot of miles to and fro various hospitals. It costs me £10 per day out of my enhanced PIP. It's had two dings and a bloke came and sorted the damage on my driveway.

My Dad was disabled and for a while he taught people to drive those things

The "instructors" sat on a box as the "cars" only had one seat

He said they were the most dangerous vehicle he had ever been "in"

The "instructors" were not allowed to let the person they were instructing go out onto a real road - just a sort of car park with bollards defining "roads"

SO - basically you had a bunch of disabled people who had never driven before - or if they had only before the were disabled and with totally different controls (and probably limbs) - being instructed by a bunch of other mostly disabled people who were sitting on an orange box ina car whose stability and safe cornering potential made a Robin Reliant look stable.

no -one died

My Dad was very pleased when they stopped issuing them and started the mobility scheme

It needs quite a bit of work doing on it. Not making it roadworthy work, but stuff like the supposed air conditioning which used to be called 'the heater' only reaching tepid warmth. The driver's side carpets are constantly wet, it has dents in it from bumps like the one I had yesterday 🙄 and all the electric warning lights are constantly on.

Sounds like a knacker then.

Sounds like a FIAT!

A timely excuse for this joke ....

A daddy hedgehog is teaching his sons how to cross a road
He explains 'if you see a car coming, go to the middle and curl up in a ball, it will pass right over you.' He then demonstrates, walking across the road and, when a car comes, curling up into a ball and letting it pass safely over the top, and then heading to the other side.

He then tells the older son to cross. The older son does the same thing, seeing a car, curling up into a ball, and then getting to the other side once it safely passes over him.

He then tells the younger son to cross. The younger son goes across, sees a car, curls up into a ball, and is immediately run over.

'What did he do wrong?' The older son asks in shock.

'He didn't do anything wrong, son. It's those damn Reliant Robins.'

It is a car from a while ago with an amazing reputation for acceleration, top speed and cornering

Basically no other production car has been able to match their abilities in these areas

Its speed and cornering was such that even some F1 drivers were scared to drive it!

There is no such car as a Robin Reliant, and there never has been.
