What influences people's opinions on cycling?

Personal experience, or prejucies founded on internet/media images.

Do one thing before answering: go to google, type in 'British cyclist' and search images. Then go back to google and type in 'Dutch cyclist'

Then come on here and discuss what you saw.

Quite an interesting difference between the country with a high cycling population and a wannabe cycling nation....

"British Cyclist" brings up pictures of Chris Boardman, Bradley Wiggins etc.

"Dutch Cyclist" brings up pictures like this:

Google displays targeted search results, as such will present to you results based on the most popular searches of a region.
I would think with the news of the TdF, Olympics, Accident, Sports personality of the year you would get a lot about Wiggo and Team Great Britain Cycling at this time. (David B also won coach of the year)
You get something more similar to what's displayed for Dutch when you search for London Cyclist

All this shows is that Google has great algorithms for working out what specific groups are interested in and search for. That is why its the world most popular search engine, it produces relevant results.... It proves just googling for it works !
This has no relevance to cycling other than people in the UK search more for information about team GB, Sky and Bradly Wiggins than they do the average British cyclist, our actions drive the results
